Calvary Baptist Church, Aberdeen, SD

On November 3, 1947, ten believers gathered together in Aberdeen, SD to establish a new congregation.  These ten believers met together for worship and equipping in their homes until the following spring.  Early in 1948, the Johannestal Baptist Church building was purchased for $1,000.  Because of poor weather, the building only made it five miles on the trip to Aberdeen.  But eventually the building found it's home on North 2nd Street across from the present day McDonald's restaurant.  By September, 1963, a new facility was dedicated at the present location on NW Eighth Avenue.  In 1981, facilities again were expanded to meet the demands of a growing fellowship.  1998 saw Calvary celebrate it's 50th Anniversary and in 2005 Calvary was blessed again with the purchase of property on North Roosevelt St.  The Lord has truely multiplied the vision of Calvary's original ten believers.
